BREW WITH A VIEW EVENTS 2014

Jurassic Parkinson's ongoing quest to get Geocachers up them there hills. We have been caching since October 2010 but one day after routing around for a magnetic key holder under a bin in a busy town centre I suddenly realised that there was more to caching than this. So our New Years resolution in 2013 was "Quality not Quantity" which in my books means summits, this continues into 2014. In order to get a full appreciation of the surroundings at the top of a hill, I now always sit down with a nice hot drink and most of the time enjoy the views of our beautiful countryside, and the idea for "A Brew With A View" (BWAV) was born.
19th JANUARY 2014
 RYE LOAF HILL
GC4VKY3

The first Brew with a View event of 2014, held on the summit of Rye Loaf Hill in the Yorkshire Dales. A fairly remote one to start the year with, and a chance to burn of all them mince pies. With an average of only 4 visits per year the cache up (GCJP55) there certainly needs some some visits. Will be approaching this one from Malham, grabbing a couple of other caches on the way up, then retire to one of the pubs in Malham for a pint afterwards.

16th MARCH 2014
PENDLE HILL
GC4Y446

Not the usual remote location but requested by Richlay for a landmark cache. Plenty of caches on the way up with a summit cache and an Earthcache as well. You can also log the YOSM (http://coord.info/GC45CC) so by visiting this event you are likely to get 4 caches at the summit. (I said you buy one you get one free)

18th MAY 2014
PILLAR
GC53V64

At the request of Patdhill for his 6K mile stone. At just under 3000 feet and at the head of the Ennerdale valley it has some fantastic views in all directions. Until recently this was only one of the two locations for the YOSM Virtual cache (the other was Coniston Old man)

The cache at the summit has on average 1 visitor per month, lets give it a few more visits.

23rd FEBREWARY 2014
CHICKS TRIX
GC4WC83

Back up to the Yorkshire Dales. One of the most remote places that we have selected for a BWAV. The cache there CHICKS TRIX (GC1J7Y6) has only had 7 visitors in 5 years. For the more adventurous the trig at Sykopoath is worth a visit too. I did a wild camp up here a few years ago with Spud and the Gom Squad, it was wet and wild.

27th APRIL 2014
MOSEDALE MADNESS - CITO
GC50JA0

A BWAV and CITO combined, and a 5/5 event at Mosedale Cottage, a remote mountain Bothy in the Lake District. Very remote and an overnight stay in the Bothy is recommended or you will have to get up at sillyy oclock. There is a cache at the Bothy whih has only had 15 finds in nearly 3 years. (GC30FJ4)

15th JUNE 2014
TRYFAN
GC54QAP

This one has been requested by The Royston Mob and we haven't been to Wales for a while, so Tryfan it is. Not the usual remote location but worthy of a visit via the North Ridge and Cannon Rock. With Adam and Eve and the Cantilever further on the ridge it shoud be a good day out.

21st September 2014
SCAFELL
GC5ARHD

Sca Fell is the second highest mountain in England, the highest being its nearest neighbour and one of the same range, Sca Fell Pike, which being a mere 50 feet or so higher gets many many more visitors, in fact maybe one in every 50 visitors to the range will call here, but it is their loss as Scafell has much to offer, boasting some of the best rock architecture in the land, with some wonderful ghills, crags and on its lower slopes waterfalls, one of the best being Cam Spout, well worth a visit and a good way to ascend this mountain is via Cam Spout and upper Eskdale. There is also a good ridge walk, 1 and quarter miles away South to Slight Side. (borrowed from Fellsmanhikers Sca Fell Waymark on Waymarking.com)
